A Tree Of Palme
A fantasy world with giant flying fish, small dragons, unicorns, walking cacti... is the setting where A Tree Of Palme takes place. Two worlds actually... the one above, and the one below. It's a tragic story of a wooden boy puppet wanting to become human.
A strange woman is being pursued by likewise strange people an some mechanical bug... but when they catch her she fights back and kills two of her pursuers. Meanwhile, somewhere not too far away Palme awakens and starts climbing the Kuroop tree, his master owns, to catch a big flying fish. Failing his goal and struck by a lightning he plungest towards the tree roots smashing himself up and losing his oil. Since Palme is made out of Kuroop wood it's relatively easy for his master to fix him up. Later on the strange woman appears in the old mans house and he is surprised to see Palme mistaking her for his wife Xian... and not only that... Palme can actually speak. The woman introduces herself as Koram of Tamas, which is a world the old man thought lost forever. She then entrusts Palme to bring the Egg of Tonto to Tamas, and disapears. Soon after her pursuers come and deadly wound the old man but find no trace of Koram or the egg. With the last of his strength the old man fixes Palme and in stead of regular oil this time uses Kurass Kara which brings Palme to life. The next morning Palme wakes up to find his master dead and sets off on his jurney to Tamas accompanied by the little dragon Baron.
A Tree Of Palme really is a tragic movie, with some disturbing sceens. We follow Palme on his quest to becoming a real boy, but on his way he starts becoming impatient as well as clumsy. He isn't mean or anything in that direction... he is just confused, and in his confusion he hurts his friends. There were times I actually found it hard to watch.
