GetBackers

Have you ever stopped to think about how many things you lost in your life and want them back? GetBackers do just that... they retrieve lost things for money. You'd think they'd earn loads of money... but strangely they don't. Well, to tell you the truth the anime has little in common with reality, as lame as this may sound.

The story follows a strange couple. Amano Ginji and Mido Ban. They are the GetBackers. Their job is to return things people lost. And the things range from something as trivial as a "life" to something deadly real as a "nuclear device". And the jobs are never easy. In the course of the series they face killers beyond imagination. Many of them use deadly powers. In fact... pretty much every character uses some sort of super natural power. On their quest to retrieve things they're "supported" by a couple of friends... some are with them from the start, like Paul, Natsumi and Hevn, some come along later... like Kazuki and Teshimine. And some they need to defeat first so they can join them. They all have something else in common too. Everyone has some kind of a dark secret that makes them do the things they do.

Ok... I know this isn't much of a description, but truth to be said... the series barely has a story to speak of. It's a bunch of episodes totaly unrelated to eachother except for some... that actually have a common story. Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad series. I actually had fun watching it. The problem is, I personally don't like series that build on introduction of new characters to keep the momentum going. I prefer character development. And here's the major flaw in the series. The only character that recieves some development is Akabane. The rest of the bunch only builds on their flashbacks. All in all, the series will appeal to people that don't pay much attention to the "big picture" because, frankly, there isn't any.
