A Wind Named Amnesia
Dating back to 1990 A Wind Named Amnesia is yet another movie speculating on doomed Earth future, filled with zombiefied robots, scattered human tribes tying to kill eachother, and destroyed nature... and of course the lone hero (much like the movie Mad Max).
Wataru enters a deserted city to find a couple humans being slaughtered by a wild mecha. He tries to escape it but the mecha is faster... and then he hears a voice telling him to shoot the mecha's gun barrel and so he destroyes it. The source of the voice reveals herself to him as Sophie. And she continues to explain him the story so far. Turns out a wind swept throughout the land that made everyone forget everything. And without their memories most people killed eachother with only a few remaining. Wataru then decides to continues his search for fellow humans with Sophie on his side. But wait... the mecha is moving... and it carries a grudge against them...
Like said before, the movie was produced in 1990 by the Madhouse Studio (which is in my opinion a very good sign), but storywise it's pretty flat. It seems to reflect the fear of doomsday future that was a "modern trend" at the time and frankly... I'm fed up with the theme. Other than that it's pretty nice to kill some time... I'd say, an average friday night movie.
